Ward defeated in Binghamton

James Ward bowed out in the second round of the ATP Challenger tournament in Binghamton, USA on Thursday with defeat to Paul Capdeville of Chile.
The British number two lost to the second seed in three sets 1-6, 6-1, 6-4. Ward, 24, rose to a career high ranking of 144 on Monday after winning the 100,000 dollar Challenger event in Vancouver last week.
Capdeville, a former world number 76, is currently ranked 28 places above Ward at 116. The 28 year old is bidding to win the hard court event for the third time after victories in 2008/9. He will now await the winner of the second round match between qualifier, Dimitar Kutrovsky (Bulgaria) and Carsten Ball (Australia).
In the first round on Wednesday, Ward defeated lucky loser, Bruno Semenzato of Brazil 6-2, 6-1.
