Baltacha wins Midland title

British number one Elena Baltacha won her eighth ITF title, after taking the crown at the 100,000 dollar tournament in Midland, USA.
Baltacha, the third seed, beat top seed Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic in three sets. The British player lost the first set by seven games to five, but won the next two sets, 6-2, 6-3 to win the title.
In her semifinal match on Saturday, Baltacha defeated Marta Domachowska of Poland in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Baltacha broke into the top hundred for the first time last September, and she should expect to see a further rise in her current position of 83 in the world, when the new rankings are announced on Monday. After her win, Baltacha remarked on her Twitter page ''what a week!!! I'm 2010 Midlands 100K champion!!!! Amazing feeling!!''.
