Bloomfield's Newport run ends

Britain's Richard Bloomfield was finally defeated in the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Championships in Newport, Rhode Island. The 27 year old lost to fifth seed Mardy Fish in straight sets, 7-6(5), 6-4.
The American will now face fourth seed Olivier Rochus of Belgium in Sunday's final. Rochus beat Argentine Brian Dabul, 6-4, 6-4, in his semifinal match at the ATP Tour event.
Bloomfield, the world number 552, qualified for the grass court tournament, and then knocked out three players who were all ranked at least 290 places above him.
His most notable win was in the second round, where he defeated second seed Santiago Giraldo of Colombia. Giraldo, the world number 56, is ranked 496 places above the British number twelve.
