Saturday, 20 February 2010
British number two Alex Bogdanovic lost his semifinal match at the Gemax Open in Belgrade, Serbia, to Ilija Bozoljac.
Bozoljac, playing in his native country, beat Bogdanovic in straight sets, 7-6(5), 7-5. Going into the match, there was little difference in the two players' ATP rankings, with Bozoljac five places above the Briton at 162.
The Serb will now play the seventh seed Karol Beck of Slovakia in the final. Bozoljac also took the Doubles title at the Challenger tournament with Britain's Jamie Delgado.
The pair defeated Dustin Brown (Jamaica) and Martin Slanar (Austria) in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Following this win, Delgado should expect to see a rise in his Doubles ranking. His current position is 114.
