Four British players have reached the quarter-finals of the 25,000 dollar Aegon Pro-Series tournament in Wrexham.
Fourth seed Heather Watson defeated compatriot Anna Fitzpatrick in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The eighteen year old will now face fifth seed Naomi Broady on Friday, in one of two all-British quarter-finals at the North Wales Regional Tennis Centre.
Broady overcame Australian Emelyn Starr in her second round match, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. Seventh seed Lisa Whybourn also moved into the next round, with a win over Stamatia Fafaliou of Greece, 6-2, 6-1. Whybourn will now play Tara Moore in the second all-Britsh quarter-final.
Moore reached the quarter-finals of the Girls' event at this year's Wimbledon, and is a former member of the Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Florida. The seventeen year old booked her quarter-final place by beating another Brit, Manisha Foster, 6-4, 6-0.
The remaining Briton in action, Emily Webley-Smith, suffered defeat to Tammi Patterson of Australia. The ninth seed bowed out in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Patterson will now play top seed Sania Mirza of India in the last eight.
