Keothavong bows out to Domachowska

Hopes of an all-British semifinal at the ITF tournament in Midland, USA were dashed when Anne Keothavong lost her quarter-final match to Poland's Marta Domachowska. Keothavong, playing in her first ranking tournament since suffering a knee injury that kept her out of action since last July, lost in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Both players' current rankings do not reflect their ability, as Keothavong's ranking has dropped from number 54 to 127 due to being side-lined, and Domachowska has been ranked as high as number 37 in 2006.
Domachowska will now play the British number one Elena Baltacha for a place in the final. The two players have met once before, at a hard court ITF tournament in The Bronx, New York, in 2007, with Domachowska taking the victory.
In the other semifinal match, defending champion and top seed Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic will take on Laura Granville of the United States.
