South knocks out top seed

British number four Melanie South caused an upset at the ITF tournament in Ismaning, Germany, knocking out the top seed Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland.
South, who is unseeded at this event, has a ranking 85 places below her opponent, but she took the victory in three sets, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4. She will now face Elena Chalova of Russia for a place in the quarter-finals.
Fourth seed Katie O'Brien also moved into the next round. She defeated Nikola Hofmanova of Austria in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. In the last 16, she will play Mariya Koryttseva of the Ukraine.
At the ATP Challenger tournament in Charlottesville, USA, Britain's Dominic Inglot moved into the quarter-finals, with a win over seventh seed Roko Karanusic of Croatia. Inglot received a wild card into this event in Virginia. Since 2006, he has been playing College tennis at the University of Virginia, and so only has a Singles ranking of 1104.
Going into his second round match, he was ranked 940 places below Karanusic. However, he emerged the winner in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-0. In the quarter-finals, he will play American Donald Young.
