Heather Watson reached the final of the Aegon Pro-Series tournament in Wrexham on Saturday. The fourth seed defeated compatriot, and seventh seed, Lisa Whybourn, in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.

Whybourn, who trains at the Wrexham Academy, where the event is being held, is currently ranked 66 places below Watson at 318.

Watson, 18, will now play top seed Sania Mirza of India in Sunday's final. The British number seven will be attempting to win the second ITF title of her career so far. Her first came last year at the 10,000 dollar tournament in Frinton.

Mirza booked her place in the final with a win over eighth seed, Emma Laine of Finland, 6-1, 6-4.

In the Doubles final, the unseeded British duo of Tara Moore and Francesca Stephenson lifted the title. Moore and Stephenson defeated top seeds Sania Mirza and Emma Laine on a match tie-break, 2-6, 6-3 [13-11].

Mirza is a former top 20 Doubles player, who has won eight titles on the WTA Tour. Her current ranking is 93 (Doubles). Laine has a ranking of 185 (Doubles), but has been ranked as high as number 64 for the discipline.

In today's winning team, only Moore has an actual Doubles ranking (527).
