Seventh seed Alex Bogdanovic will meet compatriot Richard Bloomfield in the first round of this 75,000 dollar tournament in Aptos. Bloomfield gained direct entry into the main draw with special exempt status. He was unable to participate in the qualifying competition because he was still competing in last week's Tour event at Newport, where he reached the semifinals.
In the Doubles competition, two British players will be in action. Dominic Inglot and Treat Conrad Huey (Philippines) are seeded third, and Alex Bogdanovic will partner American Tim Smyczek.
