The French Open begins on Sunday at the Stade Roland Garros. In the women's competition, three British players have gained direct entry into the draw.
Elena Baltacha faces a difficult first round match against the eighth seed, Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland. Baltacha has some injury concerns coming into the second Grand Slam of the year.
The British number one was forced to retire from her second round match against Anastasia Rodionova at the Tour event in Strasbourg last week, with a back injury.
Anne Keothavong will be the first Briton to compete, facing the 14th seed Flavia Pennetta of Italy on Sunday. British number three Katie O'Brien's first round opponent will be 35 year old veteran player, Jill Craybas. 2009 was the American's ninth continuous season in the world's top 100.
In the men's draw, Andy Murray is the only British representative. The fourth seed faces a tricky encounter against former world number seven, Richard Gasquet of France.
